Can American HD DVD players play out of area discs?

Question by Brandon V: Can American HD DVD players play out of region discs?
Can American HD DVD players play regular definition DVDs from Other regions, at least NTSC ones?
I know the HD DVDs themselves have no area, im asking if it can play Regular DEF DVDs from another area. If not, I have a Region Free Pal->NTSC Player that has nice good quality, but if the HD DVD player can do that to I would like to get rid of some of the clutter.
